Ending of ‘Lost’ revealed at Comic-Con? Not exactly…

July 27, 2009

http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/07/ending-of-lost-revealed-.html

Here’s the setup: At the start of the “Lost” panel, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse presented a locked box they said contained the last page of the final episode’s script and that they would open this box on Jimmy Kimmel Live after the show’s finale next year.

Then, near the end of the session, a rogue Josh Holloway takes the stage, mock Taser zaps Lindelof and forces Cuse to unlock the box so the final “Lost” scene can be revealed to the Comic-Con crowd.

Watch the video, before reading the rest below, as not to spoil the fun …

OK, you finish the video? Do that first….

This gag had the audience rolling. But what made it even funnier was that the “Heroes” panel a few hours later, producers talked about how the fourth season really does have a circus — there’s a dark carnival  recruiting heroes throughout next season. You figure “Lost” writers heard about the carnival subplot and used it to add an all-too-plausible element to their gleeful mocking of the other kid attending their high school of serialized TV shows. Also, I can watch Benjamin Linus ask, “What the f–k is this?” all day.

IDEA – Not to be confused with IKEA

July 4, 2009

Hey Everyone,

IDEA – Since job searching is a pain to do, I was thinking that everyone should randomly do searches for each other and then post what they find on the site.   JDM for copywriting, Razel for policy type jobs and Rachael for graphic design freelance gigs.  Whats everyone think?

Here’s one that I randomly came across for Jon.  Never thought about it before but maybe PR would be a good twist since copywriting jobs are so difficult to find.  I noticed that if you do the search on ‘public relations writer,’ it helps filter it on the ones that are more heavily based on writing. http://jobview.monster.com/GetJob.aspx?JobID=81450973&from=indeed

Dean Kamen Back At It Again

July 4, 2009

Story:  http://gas2.org/2009/06/30/hybrid-electric-scooter-runs-on-anything-that-burns/#more-2760

Segway inventor Dean Kamen is developing a hybrid electric scooter that can run on almost anything that burns.

According to the patent, the bike has a small two-piston Stirling engine right under the seat. Though with an engine of that size, it really isn’t going to provide much juice – not much more than 5bhp.

A Stirling engine is based on tech which predates internal combustion engines by almost 100 years. It’s kinda like a steam engine in the sense that it uses external combustion. They use pistons for the crankshaft, but unlike the alternatives they have no valves for no gas ever enters or leaves the cylinders.

Since there is no need for a fuel to be injected, it can run on almost anything that burns – everything from wood chips to old Barbies. This really opens the door for renewable fuel technologies and the standards they would have to meet.

With the engine’s low output, it won’t provide much of the bike’s performance on its own. But it can keep the rechargeable battery packs, which are located in the floor of the bike, topped off. Those reserves can be used for an extra kick in the pants!

Multimillionaire Kamen has already sunk more than $50 million into developing the Stirling engine technology.

A prototype of the bike has yet to be seen unlike Kamen’s Stirling-engined car. Though, rumor has it that Kamen rides one around his own estate.

A version of the Th!ink City also uses a Stirling Engine

But Kamen isn’t the only one looking at the Stirling as a viable solution. Honda has patented concepts using the Stirling to extract more power from a conventional internal combustion engine. Yah, say that three times fast. Other applications include autonomous robots for the US military that can “feed” themselves to remain active for years.

Um, anyone else thinking…SkyNet?

Louie-Anderson

Hey Everyone,

Thought it’d be cool to set up a place that makes it easy to have group convos and update each other on things going on, from depressed ferrets to job and school stuff.  Also for random ‘sil’ things such as Louie Anderson.  If you like the idea but are against the name of the blog, let me know and I’ll create a new one!

As a first random tidbit – Cashmere is getting better and scarfing down a bottle and a half of gerber’s baby food a day.  Still a bit lethargic (which is actually kind of nice) but I think she’s getting there.  Thin as a rail though – I need to plump her up.  I’m not sure I understand why she likes it here better or how she recognizes us but she seems happy.  Either way, I think that the take away is the fact that this is proof that Cashmere is smarter than Zoey.  And since Bryan likes Zoey ‘because their on the same level,’ this is proof that Cashmere is also smarter than Bryan.  Which is also why Cashmere has no interest in making out with Sherry.  Case closed.
